Aussie sevens skipper lauds the new coach Geraint John

AUSTRALIA'S sevens captain Ed Jenkins says new coach Geraint John deserves much of the credit for the team's improved performances in the opening two rounds of the 2014-15 world series.

After finishing fifth last season, the Aussies sit third in this series after losing to South Africa in the final of the Dubai round last weekend.

Jenkins (pictured), who scored five tries in Dubai and was named in the Dream Team, preferred to deflect any individual recognition ahead of round three in Port Elizabeth this weekend.

"The team morale at the moment is great. Geraint has come in and filled the players with a lot of confidence and the players are going out and backing themselves," he said.

"When you're enjoying it on the field, you are more than likely to be enjoying it off the field, too. The boys are liking where we are at."

Australia has drawn Argentina, Portugal and Zimbabwe in its group.
