Australia set to sizzle with temperatures up to 44 degrees

AUSTRALIA is set for some scorching weather on Friday with temperatures of up to 44 degrees.

Weatherzone reports that South Australia is on track for its hottest spell since last summer and its hottest November in six years.

Queensland and New South Wales won't escape the heat.

Regional centres are expected to face temperatures in their low to mid 30s.

But others will be much warmer.

Birdsville, which is no stranger to November hot weather, can expect a maximums of between 42 and 44 degrees on Friday and Saturday.

It is well short of its record high of 48.7 degrees in 1990.

Roma and Charleville will face similar temperatures.

Weipa can expect 36, Rockhampton 33, Toowooomba 34, Mackay and Bundaberg 30.

The Fraser Coast is expected to have temps in the low to mid 30s.

Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast will have highs of 31 and 32 degrees later in the week.

Longreach can expect 39, while in Ipswich it will be 37 to 38 degrees later in the week.

The heatwave will be caused by a large high pressure system moving across from Western Australia.

Sydney CBD is forecast to hit 38C by Friday with some western suburbs likely to be in the 40s, Weatherzone reported.
Bourke in the states north west is expecting 43C.

Storm warning issued in Queensland
