Baby 'abandoned' on Brisbane street, mother charged

A 14-month-old baby allegedly abandoned has been found in an Inala Street, police say.

The girl was discovered alone inside a pram on Sittella Street on Thursday morning, police said. It is believed the girl was by herself for about an hour before passers-by contacted authorities.

"She was quite dirty ... she was OK when I gave her a little bit of water," neighbour Amy Whiteman told Seven News Queensland. She just wanted to hold me and snuggle."

Police tracked down the girl's 41-year-old mother at a nearby shopping centre after finding her handbag on Sittella Street.

She was charged with endangering a child through exposure and is due to face court next month.
