SHOCKING footage has emerged showing an evil babysitter repeatedly punching a small child in a lift - just moments after waving goodbye to the unsuspecting mum.

The CCTV clip from Zhengzhou City, in central China's Henan Province, shows the nanny picking the tot up from its home.

The mum can be seen handing her child to the woman before waving goodbye as the nanny and child get into a lift.

The tot sobs, seemingly reluctant to leave its mother - and for good reason.

As soon as the lift doors close, the shocking abuse begins immediately.

The footage shows the nanny first threatening the baby with a raised hand in a possible attempt to stop it from crying.

She then punches the child in the midriff and back at least six times.

The baby continues to cry as the nanny puts it into a pushchair - so she winds up and smashes it around the head.

The sick babysitter also violently shakes the stroller before the lift doors open and she wheels the child out.

The shocking scenes were reportedly only brought to cops' attention when the building's security guard showed the footage to the mum.

The horrified parent called police, who arrested the nanny later the same day on abuse charges.

Officers are also reportedly questioning the agency who introduced the babysitter.

The nanny is said to have had a "good reputation" and earns some £789 a month.

It is unclear whether the child was found with any physical injuries as a result of the abuse.
