Dancers taught by ballet icons

AUSTRALIAN classical dancers Steven Heathcote and Lynette Wills flew into the Gold Coast on the weekend to motivate and mentor the next generation of dancers.

The former principal artists of the Australian Ballet arrived on the Coast to train 50 of Queensland's brightest young dancers in an exclusive NAB Dance the Dream workshop, held at Danielle and Arna's Studio of Dance in Burleigh Heads.

Ballet dancers from the Tweed and Gold Coast attended the event along with dancers from central Brisbane, Cairns and beyond.

Dancer Lynette Wills said the workshop experience was a great opportunity for Australia's dance community.

"Over the past four years, NAB Dance the Dream has taken ballet off the stage and into many local communities, nurturing and engaging young dancers.

"I could only have wished for such an experience as a young student," Ms Wills said.

NAB Dance the Dream workshops were held in five states across Australia this year, involving a total of 250 of our country's most enthusiastic dance students.
