Ballet's young pointe of view
YOUNG dancers of the Fiona Munroe Dance Centre will perform Tchaikovsky's classic The Nutcracker this Friday.
The much-loved story is based around young Clara Stahlbaum, whose favourite Christmas toy comes alive, and whisks her away to a magical toy Kingdom.
After five months of rehersals, the group of 25 dancers are ready to show off their art.
The dancers are aged between 10 and 17 years and over half are training at a senior level, dedicating about 25 hours per week to ballet.
More than 100 costumes were created for the show by a local professional dress maker, and many hours have been put into the stunning set design.
The Nutcracker will run at 10am, noon, 2pm and 7pm on Friday at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre.
Shows run for one hour.
