Balotelli accuses French fans of racial abuse

ITALIAN firebrand Mario Balotelli has accused fans of racially abusing him.

The striker, who plays for Nice in France's Ligue 1, said fans of rival club Bastia made monkey chants towards him in Friday's 1-1 draw.

The former Liverpool, Manchester City, Inter Milan and AC Milan player took to Instagram with his accusations.

"Is it normal that Bastia supporters make monkey noise and 'uh uh' for the whole game and no one of the 'discipline commission' says anything?” he wrote.

"So is racism legal in France? Or only in Bastia? Football is an amazing sport ... those people like Bastia supporters make it horrible! A real shame.”

Bastia denied the claims, saying in a statement: "It is with amazement that our club has been informed of these accusations, which represent considerable harm to the image of Bastia.”

Ligue 1 officials have said they will investigate Balotelli's claims.

Nice's bus was also pelted with rocks before the clash in Corsica.
