Young man out on bail arrested for multiple new offences

A 21-year-old Banora Point man was arrested while reporting for bail after initially escaping from police.

The man was on a curfew bail for break and enter and stealing offences.

Tweed Police allege while patrolling Glen Ayr Dr, Banora Point early on Sunday morning a vehicle reversed onto the road and began driving in a dangerous manner.

Sirens and lights were activated as the vehicle drove in a driveway on Manuka Dr, Banora Point.

The offender jumped from his car and bolted into a backyard, escaping from police

Occupants of the home said they did not know the 21-year-old, but a search of his vehicle uncovered property belonging to him.

When the man went to Tweed Police Station on Monday for bail reporting he was arrested.

The man was charged with breaching bail conditions, driving in a dangerous manner and driving with an expired license.

He will appear before Tweed Heads Court on January 6.
