Banora Point man arrested for spitting blood on police

A BANORA Point man has been charged with serious assault after spitting on a police officer at the weekend.
It's understood the man, 21, spat blood and spittle on a police officer after being evicted from the Coolangatta Sands Hotel.
It was alleged the man then claimed to be HIV positive.
Coolangatta acting senior Sergeant Steve Quinn said the incident occurred on Griffith St about 11pm on Saturday April 19.
Acting Sergeant Quinn said the man was refused bail and is expected to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on May 6.
