Banora residents come out in support of sacked Tweed GM
THE Banora Residents association has come out in support of the sacked Tweed Shire Council general manger David Keenan.
At their next meeting on April 8, the sacking will top the agenda.
Secretary Pat Tate said the organisation had no political affiliations.
"We work for the community as a conduit between them and all levels of government," she said.
"We have had quite a lot to do with Mr Keenan and found him to be someone who listened to us.
"He has been to our meetings and has been well received."
Ms Tate said Mr Keenan brought fresh ideas to the Tweed.
"We felt he was what the Tweed needed," she said.
"He always made himself available to the community and shared his initiatives for the region."
She said the association took pride in being non political.
"We are shocked by the sacking and people are looking for answers." she told My Daily News.
The meeting will be held at the Banora point Community centre, Leisure Drive, Banora Point on Monday, April 8 at 7pm.
