Barbarians face test of their credentials
RUGBY UNION: It is a battle of the competition heavyweights in this weekend's round-six clash in the Far North Coast competition.
Casuarina Beach are undefeated and sit second on the ladder, one point behind leaders Wollongbar-Alstonville.
After securing a strong win against Lennox Head last week, the Barbarians will have another test of their premiership credentials when they host Ballina on Saturday afternoon.
Ballina are coming off their first loss of the season last weekend to Grafton and will be aiming to re-establish themselves in this year's competition.
For Casuarina Beach, their high-flying start to the season has been built around solid defence and a fast-paced attack.
Coach Mick Hall said his side would need to stick to their attacking game plan to get the better of Ballina this afternoon.
"Ballina are a big and physical team, so if we can move the ball around quickly we should be able to go around them and not have to play through them,” he said.
"We gained a lot of confidence last week, understanding we can compete with the top teams.”
Hall said he was pleased with the application of his players to their training and said his side was excited about taking the field against Ballina at home.
"It is going to be a really good competition between two really good teams,” Hall said.
"We are looking forward to playing Ballina and testing ourselves against a top team.”
Kick-off for the A-grade clash between Casuarina Beach and Ballina will be at 3.15pm, at the Barbarians home ground on Casuarina Way.
