Barnaby Joyce slammed for PaTH slip-up

DEPUTY Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has been slammed for being unfamiliar with his government’s budget after a slip-up at a Tweed Heads South press conference last Thursday.

Mr Joyce mentioned the Youth PaTH program would offer participants an “extra $200 a week”, which doubles the payment listed in the recent Federal Budget.

Shadow Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Brendan O’Connor said the government had “no idea about its own youth internship program”.

“It is a fundamental job of cabinet ministers to understand budget measures,” Mr O’Connor said.
