Barrelling in on pro surf career
A MILD-mannered commerce student and shop manager by day, but at all other times Noah Lane changes out of his street clothes and morphs into a Surfing Superman.
The 22-year-old Griffith University student has been presented with a wonderful opportunity to fulfil a boyhood dream – earning a quid competing on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ATP) World Tour.
Lane has taken a giant step towards achieving his goal by winning the Queensland Championship Circuit series – an achievement which has earned him one of 16 invitations to contest the Quiksilver Pro Qualifying Tournament in the week leading up to the ATP World Tour season opener at Snapper Rocks next February.
The winner of the qualifier earns a wildcard into the Quiksilver Pro, where he will compete against the biggest names in world surfing – men such as Joel Parkinson, Adriano DeSouza, Mick Fanning and Bobby Martinez.
