Bashing victim in critical condition

THE 18-year-old victim of a brutal bashing in Coolangatta on Saturday night remains in a critical condition in Gold Coast Hospital.

Sam Ford, of Bogangar, and his 17-year-old girlfriend were walking in Coolangatta when they were approached by the offender. It is alleged the offender verbally threatened Mr Ford before punching him numerous times in the face, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head.

The ugly crime comes just more than a month after Murwillumbah man Andrew Houlahan, 21, was tragically killed in a late-night brawl in Coolangatta.

In June two men were bashed in Tweed Heads CBD and an Indian student was assaulted in front of an unmanned Coolangatta Police Station.

A man was also left with a broken jaw and ribs after being gang-bashed by eight thugs in December.
