Bay man accused of 47 child sex offences remains on bail

A HERVEY Bay man accused of 47 child sex offences remains on bail as he waits to find out whether his case will be committed to trial.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place from 1971 to 1981.

They include 16 rape charges, 29 charges of indecent treatment of girls less than 16 years of age, and two charges of carnal knowledge against the order of nature.

The man's case was adjourned in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday until June 6 for a committal mention, when he is expected to learn whether or not he will have to stand trial in a higher court.

He originally appeared in court for these charges in April and was granted bail on that occasion.

His bail was extended on Thursday.
