Tappa says "Don't drink and drive"

SANTA has a message for all party-goers this Christmas – Don’t drink and drive.

The Coolangatta Sands Hotel is hosting a Santa party tonight with funds from the door being donated to the Gold Coast Traffic Offenders Program.

Surf reporter Terry “Tappa” Teece, said his late friend Dennis Callinan started GCTOP and he was proud to do something to support the program.

“Come and have a ball and a great time as well as help out a really great cause which will help save many people’s lives in the future,” he said.

“Come down and party like Santa, he only parties one day a year.”

Santa himself may make an early appearance at Coolangatta, to see the competition for the sexiest ‘Mrs Claus’.

GCTOP co-ordinator Lara Hickling said the program changed the mindset of drink drivers.

“People have got to be responsible for drink-drivers it is just way to dangerous. If we can change the mindset of the few that take the risk, you are going to save a life.”
