Beach stage goes up at Coolangatta ready for opera

A STAGE is being built on the sand at Greenmount Beach ready for the Opera on the Beach event next month.

The scaffolding structures and towers to hold the set are almost complete after three days of building and the scenery from Opera Australia has arrived in Coolangatta.

This will be placed on the scaffold base to form the set for Magic Flute production, located in front of the Greenmount Surf Club.

Within the next few days the structure will turn from a scaffolding work site into an Egyptian tomb.

Opera on the Beach will be held in English on May 9, 10 and 11 from 6.30pm, running for two hours and 20 minutes with a 30 minute interval.

Tickets are available at http://operaonthebeach.net.
