Cricket: Bears, Cudgen right back into the rivalry

THERE will be a rematch of the 2014-15 final when Ballina Bears travel to play Cudgen in the first round of Far North Coast LJ Hooker League cricket.

The game will be played at Reg Dalton Oval, Kingscliff, on Saturday, Oct-ober 10, as part of a round of one-dayers to open the season.

In other games:

Lennox Head, which lost to Bears in the semi-finals last season, will host Alstonville at Megan Crescent Oval.

Tintenbar-East Ballina, the other beaten semi-finalist, will travel to Queen Elizabeth Park to face theCasino Cavaliers.

And Marist Brothers play Pottsville at Oakes Oval, Lismore.

The local cricket season will start with a bang next weekend with the inaugural Rous Hotel 16.8 tournament in Lismore.

Prizemoney of $6000 will be up for grabs for the winning team in the open division. A social B division has also been planned.

It will be a round-robin format with teams of eight to play innings of 16 overs where each player bats four overs and bowls two.
