Sam models at Sydney Fashion Week
FORMER Banora Point beauty Samantha Harris has a busy week ahead of her.
The 19-year-old will model 18 different internationally-known fashion labels during Sydney Fashion Week, which began yesterday, and last night unveiled her first Vogue Australia cover.
Miss Harris told the Tweed Daily News she was stunned when she saw the cover for the first time yesterday.
“I really liked it. It just didn’t seem like me. I was just shocked that it was me on there,” Miss Harris said.
The former Tweed River High School student only made her debut in the magazine months before, modelling the Italian brand Miu Miu.
“I’m hoping all my family and friends back up in Tweed get a good look,” she said.
“I hope it sells out back up in Tweed.”
Miss Harris began her whirlwind week yesterday on the opening day of Sydney Fashion Week.
She is preparing to model for top brands including Rachel Gilbert and Lisa Ho.
“I think the one I’m most excited for is Alex Perry,” she said.
Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Kirstie Clements said she has had her eye on Miss Harris for a while.
“We’ve been watching Samantha grow as a model for many years and we felt that the time was right for her to be a Vogue Australia cover girl,” Ms Clements said.
“We’re thrilled to have Samantha join the exclusive group of models such as Abbey Lee, Catherine McNeil, Nicole Trunfio and Elyse Taylor, who have graced Vogue Australia’s coveted cover in recent months.”
The cover of the Vogue Australia June edition was unveiled last night at a function, where Miss Harris mingled with the likes of Garance Dore, Akira Isogawa, Dion Lee, Collette Dinnigan, Anna Plunkett, Kit Willow and Kym Ellery. Vogue Australia’s June issue is on sale now.
