Bell Shakespeare holds masterclass
HERE'S a rare opportunity for anyone yearning to know more about Shakespeare's famous tragedy, Hamlet.
In the coming months, Murwillumbah Theatre Company will host a Hamlet masterclass with the world-renowned Bell Shakespeare Company.
The masterclass was originally scheduled for this Sunday but due to unforseen circumstances has been postponed to Sunday, August 30.
The experienced arts educators will take those involved on a rollicking two-hour journey through the famous play.
Just weeks after Bell Shakespeare brought Macbeth to the town, this masterclass will look at everything from the basics of Shakespeare's language to Hamlet's underlying themes.
Hamlet is Shakespeare's longest play and among the most powerful and influential tragedies in English literature, with a story capable of seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others.
The play seems to have been one of Shakespeare's most popular works during his lifetime and still ranks among his most-performed, topping the performance list of the Royal Shakespeare Company and its predecessors in Stratford-upon-Avon since 1879.
It has inspired writers from Goethe and Dickens to Joyce and Murdoch, and has been described as "the world's most filmed story after Cinderella".
Bell Shakespeare celebrates 25 years of incredible touring productions and education programs this year, and is world-renowned for the quality of its shows and teaching skills.
This Hamlet Masterclass will be designed for adults and senior students, actors, production personnel and those simply intrigued with one of The Bard's most-produced plays.
To secure your spot at the masterclass, organisers suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.
Tickets are $25. Further information is available at murwillumbahtheatrecompany.com.
