Ben is already a music veteran

BEN Paulson spends most of his spare time in his bedroom making music.

It's where this Banora Point 15-year-old set up the mixing board his father bought him two years ago.

It's been time and money well spent with Ben having released his second album this week.

Ben said he had come a long way with his music since he was first introduced to rap and hip-hop by his cousin, Cheniki Paulson.

Cheniki and another cousin, Jacob Paulson, both contributed to the latest album.

"I enjoy the process of writing a song," Ben said.

"I am still learning. The first CD I didn't know much about recording and editing.

"Even with this latest one the first track on the CD is not as good as the last one. I was improving as I went."

Ben said he spent about a year on the latest CD and spent a lot of time ensuring each track was perfect before moving on to the next.

"Watching Dr Dre's live shows inspire me I guess," he said.

Ben's mother Nicole Huthnance said the family was proud of what Ben has achieved.

"He does get very focused on it," Ms Huthnance said.

"He spends most of his spare time making music."

Ben's latest offering are 17 tracks that are heavily influenced from his own experiences living on the Tweed.

"I think my favourite track on the CD is Stronger," he said.

The CD is available from Sideways at Greenway Dr, Tweed Heads South.
