Bendigo Mosque battlers out of legal options

RESIDENTS opposed to a planned mosque in the Victorian city of Bendigo have exhausted their legal options.

Yesterday, the High Court dismissed their request to hear an appeal against the planning approval granted by Bendigo City Council in June 2014.

The two residents behind the action argued the council had failed in its legal obligations to consider the social effects of the mosque.

Previous appeals to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the State Court of Appeal failed. It will be Bendigo's first mosque.
