Murwillumbah cafe hosts CSG fundraiser for Bentley camp
A FUNDRAISER will be held on Saturday (May 10) from 6pm to raise money for Bentley "protectors" at the New Leaf Cafe in Murwillumbah.
Protesters have been occupying "CSG Village" in Lismore. Lock The Gate Alliance national co-ordinator Phil Laird, Lock the Tweed's Michael McNamara and Scott Sledge, from the Northern Rivers Guardians, will update progress at Bentley.
"Singers and musicians will play laid-back music and great food will be available," Caldera Environment spokesman Ari Ehrlich said.
Richmond MP Justine Elliot and pre-selected Greens candidate Dawn Walker are also said to be attending the fundraiser.
"The cost is $20 and, after covering costs, the money will go directly into the dedicated account set up by the Nimbin Environment Centre to help to keep the protectors' village going strong," Mr Ehrlich said.
The Bentley camp is on a strip of privately owned land and is a temporary home for hundreds of protesters against Metgasco, which is planning to begin exploratory drilling for gas.
