Beware five-star Perth

PERTH GLORY has its sights set squarely on the Brisbane Roar after capping an outstanding pre-season with a 5-0 victory against Melbourne Heart.

Star striker Shane Smeltz scored twice before captain Jacob Burns made it 3-0 at half-time.

Young gun Jesse Makarounas and Japanese whiz Ryo Nagai also got on the score sheet, the result pleasing coach Ian Ferguson.

"To get two wins in four days over Melbourne Victory and Heart is very pleasing ... I'm delighted," Ferguson said. "The manner that we played was also very pleasing. Now we need to carry this form into the first game of the season against Brisbane."

Perth's only loss in 10 pre-season games came in South Africa.
