Big night 13 years in the making
EXAMS are over and Year 12 students throughout Tweed are preparing for a big night out at their formals.
Each year on top of the Year 12 workload the graduating class spends time searching for the perfect dress, shoes, hair and make-up while the boys spend their time looking for a dashing suit.
St Joseph's College captain Samantha Fien said she had spent months looking for the right dress.
"I started looking at the start of the year. I travelled up to Brisbane and finally found my dress at Sandgate in September," Miss Fien said.
The St Joseph's formal is being held at Twin Towns on November 17.
Andrea Roberts, also a St Joseph's College student, also started looking in January and spent more than $1000 on the formal.
"I started looking everywhere at the start of the year and spent a really long time trying to find a dress," she said.
"I finally found one at Sassy Boutique in Melbourne and I flew down there to pick it up."
Andrea and Samantha will travel to the formal with their partners in a limousine, which they had trouble booking owing to the number of formals in the area.
Samantha and Andrea sought professional make-up and hair artists to get them prepared for the big night and will spend most of the big day getting ready.
Parents of students at St Joseph's College volunteered on the formal committee.
Next week is formal week with Banora Point High and Pacific Coast Christian School on November 15, Tweed River High, St Joseph's College, Tweed Valley Adventist College on November 17 and Kingscliff High on November 18.
