Big Trev says algae’s gone in Tweed but signs remain

TREVOR "Big Trev" Arbon, operator of Big Trev's Water Sports at Jack Evans Boat Harbour, is adamant that the algae which was causing trouble for swimmers at Jack Evans Harbour last week has gone.

"There was a bit of algae that came in the harbour a week and a half ago, and since then we've had two big tides which has washed it all out.

"I'm not a scientist, but I think it's safe ... It's clear as a bell...looks like champagne," Big Trev said.

He's not impressed with the local authorities who haven't removed the signs to warn swimmers the water is unsafe.

"I would love the council to come and test it for the weekend, 'cause these signs are no good to me or the swimmers," he said.
