Cooly Rocks On bigger and better than ever before
COOLY Rocks On is upon us again and this year is set to be even better than the last with some sassy new main events in store.
This year marks the first ever Miss Cooly Rocks On.
The competition sought out every bombshell babe who liked to strut her stuff in vintage glamour. Think '40s, '50s and early '60s fashions.
Mother Jacqueline Roates is entering to show her daughter you don't need to have skin showing everywhere to be considered beautiful.
"I want to show her women come in all shapes and sizes," she said.
For Mrs Roates the competition is also just a little bit of fun.
She dresses as a pin-up girl everyday of the week, not just for the occasional glamour pageant.
"I love my pin-up," she said laughing.
"I've always been into it ... it's just a fashion that I love."
To be a pin-up girl, Mrs Roates said it didn't matter what size or shape you were because the style suits any body type.
"If you're curvy or you're thin, it doesn't matter," she said.
The stunning pin-up said pulling off the glamorous look wasn't as difficult as you may think.
Staple items she recommended were a black pencil skirt, "wiggle" dresses and a big, wide black belt.
"The belt is good because it helps to make your waist look really small," Mrs Roates said.
"It's called a wiggle skirt because you step into it and have to wiggle it up to get it on.
"They're very 1940s kind of style."
The pin-up competition will seek out 12 stunning women to be part of the pageant being held at Komune Resort on June 7.
"There is no perfect look, no perfect age," That Shop owner and Cooly Rocks On sponsor Karen Drew said.
"We want contestants who simply love nothing more than showcasing their love for vintage or vintage-inspired styling."
More than 80,000 people are expected to attend this year's festival.
