Biggest Orchestra record smashed with Tweed help

THE World's Biggest Orchestra record was smashed with help from students and teachers from Centaur Primary School.

The school's own musicians, William Cohen, Aiden Hanna, sisters Simone and Amelie Ogg and Principal Darren Scott, eagerly joined the ensemble to break the Guinness World Record earlier this month.

More than 7000 musicians from beginners to accomplished soloists gathered to play Waltzing Matilda, Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Queen's We Will Rock You for five minutes to break the record.

"This event was a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a world record holder - an incredible way to become part of history," principal Darren Scott said.

They were invited by the Queensland Music Festival to break two records but were only successful with the first.
