Bike is what doctor Kristof Piechocki ordered
NOW on the small screen as Associate Professor Malcolm Reid in the Reef Doctors drama shot at the Great Barrier Reef, Kristof Piechocki took some time out of his schedule to talk about his motoring life.
What's your current drive?
I am currently jetting about town on a bike, my ex-SAS Honda XR250 complete with combat camouflage. It's raising eyebrows among the city slicker types.
What do you like and hate about your bike?
I love that my machine will go anywhere. In the city parking is never an issue and peak traffic...what's that?
And if someone at work asks for a lift I'm happy to lead them down the garden path and let them to assume they will be getting a lift in a car. Then when we finally reach where the bike is parked there is no choice but to jump on, sit very close and "vroom".
Not much to hate except that it attracts more attention from the authorities then is necessary.
What was your first car and what happened to it?
My first car was a Ford Telstar, too much power for a P-plater and it died on a telegraph pole. Yeah, what can I say, I did crash my first car, roads were wet and I was training in the art of drifting. Slight oversteer led to aquaplaning of the back and onto the energy company's infrastructure.
During your childhood, what car did your family have?
The family car I remember best is our Toyota Tarago van. I used to love riding in the back waving to other cars.
What is your dream car?
I wish to restore and old Second World War American Willy's MB Jeep.
I love a car you can drive hard, take anywhere and fix with a screwdriver.
