Bilby takes on Easter Bunny

EASTER is nearly upon us and with it comes the Easter Bunny and in Australia, the bilby.

What better time to release the final instalment in the Smallest Bilby trilogy written by Cabarita author Nette Hilton.

"This series was started in 2001 and has taken until 2012 to get my dear little bilby to stardom," Ms Hilton laughs.

"He is now, officially, the Brand New Easter Bilby and has successfully delivered his first batch of Easter eggs."

The books were developed to highlight the plight of bilbies who are nearing extinction.

"Hopefully the books and the new television series which is being developed will achieve that purpose," the author said.

The team of publishers and agents includes Rosemary Dusting, Bilby Lover and dedicated bilby protectors, who have continued to work to take Billy Bilby from obscurity to Easter Bilby Extraordinaire.

To celebrate Easter and Billy Bilby's contribution to it, there will be a book signing and a reading on Saturday, April 7.

There may even be some chocolate delight at Boardwalk Books, 1/88 Marine Parade, Kingscliff.

Please call into the bookshop to collect your invitation or phone 02 66745777.
