Birthday party at Kingscliff
THE lovely ladies at St Vincent de Paul celebrated their first birthday at their new location outside the Kingscliff Shopping Village last week.
Anyone brave enough to fight through the sea of balloons on Thursday would have seen the store looking its best, stocked full of pre-loved goods and the smiling faces of many selfless volunteers.
President Jean Woods said she wanted to thank the Kingscliff community for their support.
“Time sure flies by,” she said.
“My loyal staff would like to thank the people of Kingscliff for their wonderful support over the past 12 months.
“Thank you for buying and donating to our lovely store.”
Ms Woods hopes that, with continued support, the store could continue to serve the community.
“We hope we can continue to serve you all well as our sales and donations go to help many needy people,” she said.
“From all the volunteers at Kingscliff, we thank you sincerely.”
The shop was relocated from its previous location across the road so it would have more space, as well as air-conditioning and wheelchair facilities.
Ms Woods said the bigger, brighter store has encouraged a better quality of donations.
“We used to be located in the old library, but this is bigger and brighter,” she said. “It's just a lovely place to work.”
The store is situated on the southern side of the Kingscliff Shopping Village, facing the smaller car park.
Ms Woods said the store was always looking for new volunteers and was open to all kinds of donations, excluding furniture.
She requested that furniture donations be taken to the Salvation Army.
