Bloody idiot learner motorbike rider hit speed of 181kmh

A MOTORCYCLIST may have just redefined the meaning of "bloody idiot" after being caught travelling at 181kmh.

The 39-year-old learner motorbike rider was headed north on the Bruce Hwy at Curra when he was caught by Maryborough police blatantly exceeding the speed limit.

A Maryborough police spokesman said at such high speeds it meant the rider would have been unable to react in time to any other drivers or incidents on the road.

But the excessive speeds were not the only idiotic act of the Curra man.

Police also spotted the driver passing at least three vehicles on the left hand side of the road.

The only safety great the man was wearing was a helmet.

"He was wearing a pair of shorts and a vest," the spokesman said.

The rider was also only on a learner's motorcycle licence and was driving a bike which was only cleared to be ridden by those with an open licence.

He had no rider with a full licence accompanying him either.

"He will lose this licence for six months," he said.

The police spokesman said the rider was able to keep his bike because it was his first major speeding offence.
