Blues on a bye as cup kicks off

THE Coolangatta Blues have a bye in the opening round of AFL Queensland's Pineapple Cup.

Competition gets under way today across South East Queensland's Premier Division.

Coolangatta coach Neil Mackay will no doubt have his troops in action as the rest of the competition enjoys the start of the season.

Four games kick off at 2pm, while the other encounter starts at 7.30pm.

The early games include Mayne's clash with Burleigh at Everton; Maroochy/Northshore's game against Western Magpies at Fishermans Road; while Springwood and Surfers Paradise play at Lowe Oval and Noosa Hosts Palm Beach Currumbin at Weyba Road.

The late game features Wilston Grange and Sandgate at Sunlinc Oval.
