Boardwalk Empire review
YOU get used to seeing Steve Buscemi playing slimy characters.
But as Enoch "Nucky" Thompson in Boardwalk Empire, even though he's a corrupt bootlegging councilman, he's one of the least odious and oily characters in Atlantic City.
In fact he's kind of dapper in his 1920s checked suits with flowers in the lapel and salmon shirts with white collars.
He's a compelling public speaker, a generous tipper (unlike Mr Pink in Reservoir Dogs), has a joke for every situation and now and then he ruins some jerk's day to remind you that he's also a stone-cold badass.
Meanwhile, he's surrounded by greedy ward bosses, smugglers and gangsters.
