Search for boat owner continues

THE owners of a boat washed up at Pottsville Beach on Thursday morning have not yet been contacted by police.

The 14ft run-about was discovered by a Pottsville resident at around 5.30am whilst walking her dog.

Concerned residents informed the police, fearing the owners may have drowned.

Tweed Police said there was no indication of missing persons in their investigation to date.

A spokesperson for the police said they had ruled out speculation that the boat belonged to a missing man and a woman rescued off Surfers Paradise on Wednesday

An onlooker told My Daily News that the outboard motor had been removed from the boat by lunchtime on Thursday.
