Boat washed up at Pottsville

POLICE were alerted to the northern end of Pottsville Beach early this morning after a walker found an upturned 14ft run-around boat washed up on the beach.

A woman walking her dog at 5.30am found the craft washed up near the breakwater.

The woman's mother, who rang the police, said she was concerned for the safety of the owners.

"I hope there has been no mishap," she said.

"It's always best to look into the situation and do the right thing as a community member."

A spokesman for Tweed police said officers were investigating.

"At this stage it's just a boat on the beach, but we will be trying to track down the owners," he said.
