Bodies of dead soldiers flown home

THE bodies of five Australian soldiers killed in Afghanistan were farewelled by grieving friends and flown home to loved ones in Australian on Sunday night.

For the children of one of the slain soldiers, the tragic flight marked the first Fathers Day spent without their dad.

The names of the three soldiers killed in a so called "green on blue attack" in the Oruzgan province last week were revealed on Saturday.

Father of two Lance Corporal Stjepen "Rick Milosevic, 40, Perth born Sapper James Martin, 21 and 24-year-old Private Robert Poate from Canberra, were gunned down by a rogue Afghan soldier at a patrol base.

Two other soldiers, Lance Corporal Mervyn John McDonald and Private Nathanael John Aubrey Galagher, were killed in a helicopter crash within the 24-hour period.
