Bogangar school kids feature on Toasted TV
BOGANGAR Primary School students became TV stars for a day when they featured on Toasted TV on Monday.
Filmed at BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort at Hastings Point, 50 students showed the fun to be had at the million dollar water park.
"Invitations to attend required some effort on the part of the students," said a school spokeswoman.
"They had to earn their coveted places as TV show extras."
Knowing it would be a difficult task to choose 50 kids to attend, principal Cath Lalor decided to run a competition amongst the classes to come up with a pitch using the powers of persuasive language.
The opportunity to attend was hotly contested with students creating banners, placards, movies, songs, poems and a puppet show to persuade the judges.
The winning classes were 2W and 5/6B.
"A giant poster from 5/6B with all the students names spelt in toast was a standout," the spokeswoman said.
"Year 2W produced their own movie."
BIG 4 North Star Holiday Resort won the Australian Tourism Award for Best Tourist and Caravan Park in Australia last year and was selected as the location to launch the Caravan RV & Accommodation Industry of Australia's (CRVA) campaign Camping for Kids.
The campaign was the subject of the Toasted TV filming and visit to North Star.
"The segment focused on the benefits of enjoying outdoor fun instead of spending the day in front of the TV or computer," said a spokeswoman for the TV show.
"Fishing, swimming, running, playing, walking or even water fights with the family are just some of the fun activities on the agenda for kids to do during their camping holiday."
