Book exchange changes Tweed

TWEED Heads man Rossco Paddison is changing the world, one reader at a time.

Mr Paddison this week launched his community initiative Take One Leave One, a free book exchange on the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast.

“I quite often hear the complaint that the area is a cultural void, but all I see is the endless opportunities,” Mr Paddison said.

“There is an abundance of people willing to get behind a good cause that will ultimately benefit their community.”

Tweed’s first bookshop was installed yesterday at Bambi Deluxe coffee shop on Stuart St.

Cafe co-owner Mike McCarthy said he had come across similar projects overseas and was excited his customers could enjoy Take One Leave One.

“It’s that whole giving and taking mentality – if you don’t need something you want someone else to get the benefit of it,” Mr McCarthy said.

More than 350 books and bookcases have been donated and Mr Paddison is waiting to hear from other cafe owners on 0459 186 666 or rossscopaddison@me.com.
