Silhouettes to support those affected by breast cancer
CONDONG Bowls Club will host a colourful show of support for women and families affected by breast cancer later this week.
More than 100 Pink Lady silhouettes will be on display this Saturday, in a stark reminder of the 38 Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer every day.
In the same 24-hour period, seven women will lose their lives to the disease.
Organiser of Tweed's Mini-Field of Women, Jane Kelly, of Tweed Community Health, said the event would be a celebration of life and the resilience of those diagnosed.
"Each time a woman hears she has breast cancer, those around her in the community are also affected," she said.
"Support for women and families affected by breast cancer is an important issue in our local community.
"Although breast cancer care and knowledge has come a long way, women are still being diagnosed every single day, who need our help and support."
Breast Cancer Network Australia will support about 300 Pink Lady fields across the nation this month.
