Bowls club donates ute

TWEED Heads Bowls Club has continued its long history of support for Marine Rescue Point Danger delivering a ute to help the rescue unit with onshore logistics.

Marine Rescue commander Bernie Gabriel said the ute would be used to tow the flood rescue boat.

"They (bowls club) have always been supportive," Mr Gabriel said.

"In 1987 they gave us a new boat and have supported us for the 25 years since then."

Tweed Heads Bowls Club chairman Peter Howell said the marine rescue crew did a fantastic job.

"It's very difficult to get sponsors at the moment," Mr Howell said.

"We give quite a lot to community groups and charity."
