Boy, 12, bashed at Tweed bus stop

TWEED Heads Police are investigating the bashing of a 12-year-old boy at a bus stop outside Tweed City Shopping Centre.

Inspector Darren Steel of Tweed Byron Police said the alleged assault occurred on Thursday about 9pm.

“It appears a 12-year-old male was assaulted by another youth,” Insp Steel said

“Police were in the area at the time. They activated the lights on their vehicle at which time the male suspect ran off. The victim had minimal injuries; some swelling around his eye and grazes to his knees.”

The incident occurred at the Minjungbal Drive bus stop in front of Tweed City Shopping Centre. Insp Steel said no-one had been arrested or charged with the assault.

“Police are anticipating speaking to another youth in relation to the matter,” he said.
