Boy, 6, watched as his dad poured fuel over his mother

A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy watched his father pour fuel over himself and the boy's mother in a terrifying domestic violence incident.

The 35-year-old man faced the Bundaberg District Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to threatening violence at night and sexual assault.

It was about 3am on March 24 last year when the man's now ex-wife woke and tended to the couple's young son. The man was woken and asked the woman to have sex, but she pushed him away and said no.

He grabbed the woman's breast, which constituted the sexual assault charge, before leaving the room to get the six-year-old boy.

He then grabbed a container of fuel and poured it over himself before lighting matches and threatening to set himself alight. He also tipped the fuel over the woman and it splashed on to the boy.

The man was sentenced to two years jail but immediately released having served 155 days in pre-sentence custody.
