Boy, 8, dies after brother mistakes gun for toy

AN 8-year-old boy has died after he being shot by his brother, who believed he was firing a toy BB gun.

A report on cincinnati.com  says the boy,  Sammy Lorenzo, and his two brothers were visiting an uncle when they found a loaded handgun in the house.

Cincinnati police officer  Lt Don Luck told the site one of the children pulled the trigger, believing it was a BB gun.

The bullet hit his brother in the chest.

The injured boy was rushed into surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Centre, where he died about two hours later.

No charges are expected against the children, ages 9 and 10.
