Boy chases thief who tried to steal mum's handbag

A BRAVE schoolboy was attacked while trying to stop a thief from stealing his mother's designer handbag in Sydney's city centre at the weekend.

The seven-year-old was helping his mother as she got out of their car on Pitt St when a man jumped out from behind a pillar and grabbed hold of her Charlie Brown bag.

When the boy tried to pull the bag back, he was kicked in the shin by the robber who ran off with the bag.

The boy then chased the thief down Pitt St but was unable to catch him.

Police are looking for a tall man of medium build and brown skin who was wearing a grey hooded jumper, black shorts, shoes and a white cap.

He got away with a beige and navy blue Charlie Brown handbag containing a blue and green Charlie Brown wallet, cash and credit cards.

Anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
