Boys to trial for rep sides

THE Tweed Border Hockey Association's under-13 and under-15 boys' representative hockey teams will have trial matches at the Barrie Smith Fields in Murwillumbah this Sunday in preparation for the upcoming Queensland championships.

The under-13 boys will play teams from Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Far North Coast.

The under-15 boys will play teams from Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The Far North Coast isn't sending a team up to play as they have already participated in the NSW state titles.

These games are a great way for the boys to play together and develop combinations as a team before they go to the state championships.

The under-13 boys will compete in the state titles in Bundaberg from June 29 to July 3, and the under-15 boys will travel to Cairns for the state titles that begin on July 10 and run until July 15.

The under-13 girls will send two teams to Warwick to contest the state title from June 29 to July 3.

The under-15 girls will head to Mackay for their state titles from July 6-10.

TWO first half goals to Matt Gohdes helped the Australian junior men's hockey team, the Burras, maintain their unbeaten record at the 2009 Men's Junior World Cup, defeating Korea 3-1 to move one step closer to the tournament finals.

“It was a dominant first-half performance, however we were less polished in the second half,” coach Jason Duff said.

The Burras will play New Zealand in Singapore today.
