Brady brilliance keeps Patriots on right track

SMOTHERED by the Baltimore defence early in the match, Tom Brady stood up when it mattered to lead New England to a thrilling 35-31 win over the Ravens to earn a place in next weekend's AFC championship.

Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco played brilliantly for the first two-and-half quarters to give the visitors a great chance of an upset, but two interceptions in the final 16 minutes, combined with some Brady brilliance, allowed the Patriots to pull of the biggest comeback playoff victory in franchise history.

His pitch-and-catch to Brandon LaFell led to the match-winning touchdown, ensuring he passed Peyton Manning for the most yards in play-off history (6791) and also topped Joe Montana for the most touchdowns (46) in post-season history.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks are still in with a shot of becoming the first team since the Patriots in 2003-04 to win back-to-back Super Bowls after downing Carolina 31-17.
