Skeletal remains found in search for Plainland man
POLICE investigating the disappearance of Plainland man Darrell Simon have located human remains on a property near Laidley.
Mr Simon, 44, was last seen at a Mountain View Drive address on November 16, 2014 shortly before setting out on an early morning bike ride.
Mr Simon has not been seen or heard from since despite passionate pleas from his loved ones.
Darling Downs District Inspector Dave Isherwood said on Tuesday the remains were located at the weekend after the property's new owners made the grisly discovery.
He said forensic examinations were under way in an effort to identify the remains.
"Skeletal remains were found on the weekend spread over an area by the people that own the property," he said.

"Forensic examinations are being conducted and we need to confirm who the person is.
"They were located on the property by new owners checking the fences."
He said the remains were found on the same property as a dam which police divers searched in February this year after a rusted bicycle frame was found submerged in the muddy waters.
Inspector Isherwood said Mr Simon's family had been made aware of the discovery.
He said forensic examinations of the remains could take several months.
