‘Toxic' bride’s outrageous cash demand
An Aussie bride has been slammed after demanding $300 from a wedding guest - because they spent a "miserly" $275 on her gift.
The "speechless" friend took to Reddit to air her fury following a conversation with her "bridezilla" friend, who'd told her the present of $200 cash and a $75 candle she'd given the newlyweds "wasn't enough".
"She told me that the cost of having my husband and I at her wedding was far more than the miserly gift we gave her," she wrote.
"So I tell her that we gave them $200 cash and a small designer candle that was $75. I was thinking perhaps someone stole the card with the cash, my friend has always been a bit quick to judge and can be tone deaf rude, but she has a good heart.
"However she says to me, that it wasn't enough and that the venue charge was $250 per head, so I owed her another $300 cash."
Despite initially thinking her friend was joking, she realised she wasn't - comparing her outburst to that of a "bridezilla".
"She didn't consider the candle a real gift, because she 'can't do anything with it' and it wasn't 'the big one' that she wanted. The bigger candle was $150!" she shared.
"I was speechless. I still am!"
The thread - titled Your gift to our wedding wasn't enough $$$ - has since gone viral, with people declaring the bride "ungrateful" and "toxic".
"Your friend is just ungrateful," one person said.
"I hope she loses all her friends over this. What a sh*tty person," another fumed.
"True colours etc. Very unfortunate," one commenter added.
While person saw the bright side of the unfortunate event: "$275 isn't a bad price to pay to remove somebody toxic like that from your life!"
She's not the only bride who has hit the headlines over their unusual behaviour, with a save-the-date being shared on social media in January for its "aggressive" tone.
