Brings house down
A KINGSCLIFF builder has taken out the Housing Industry Association Home of the Year award as well as a further six awards at the Gold Coast Northern Rivers Housing Awards.
Luke Fitcher of Hammerhead Building Projects said the award process had been overwhelming. “It's really humbling to receive recognition in this field and a great feeling to know that the homes we build, and think are really well detailed be recognised for that,” Mr Fitcher said.
“I'm really proud of our team, including subcontractors and suppliers who take pride in their work. For them to be recognised for that work is really rewarding.
“Our projects at Salt, Casuarina and Myocum that were recognised in the HIA awards were all really great houses from a design perspective and therefore houses that we were really excited about building.”
The renovation in Myocum by Hammerhead Building Projects took out the award for HIA 2011 Home of the Year as well as the GreenSmart Energy Efficiency Award, Renovation/Addition over $600,000 and the Renovation/Addition of the Year Award.
“With the project at Myocum we worked hard to maintain the original cottage while adding very contemporary new spaces while its remote location meant that sustainability was a major priority,” Mr Fitcher said.
“A combination of good architect and client goes a long way to gaining these kind of results.”
The company was also awarded Kitchen Project up to $30,000 and Custom Built Home $300,000- $500,000 for a project in Casuarina Beach and Custom Built Home $500,000- $750,000 for a home in Kingscliff South.
